Privacy Policy

Last updated October 17, 2026

This policy says what TorQ collects about you, why, who processes it for us, how long we keep it, and how you can see or delete it. Questions go to team@gettorqapp.com.

Who Is Responsible for Your Data

TorQ App LLC, a Delaware limited liability company (“TorQ,” “we,” “us”), runs TorQ and is responsible for the personal data described in this policy.

Our technology provider builds and runs the TorQ app and its servers for us. It hosts and processes your data on our behalf, only to run TorQ, under this policy.

During the beta you use the TorQ app through TestFlight, Apple's app for beta testing. When TorQ reaches the App Store, your account and your data carry over, and this policy keeps applying to them.

What We Collect

When You Apply for the Beta

  • Your email address and first name.
  • What you use for training and food today, and which apps, if you tell us.
  • What made you apply, and anything you add in your own words.
  • How you would like a say in TorQ: a call with the team, feedback as you go, or a review at the end, if you tell us.
  • Your Instagram handle, if you give it.
  • That you agreed to how the beta works, and which post or link sent you to us.

When You Use the App

  • Your account details: name, email, and how you sign in (an emailed code, Apple or Google).
  • What you tell the coach when you set up: for example your age, sex, height, weight, goals, experience, schedule, equipment, lifts, injuries and what motivates you.
  • Your training: workouts, exercises, sets, weights and check-ins.
  • Your nutrition: the foods and meals you log, including what you type or say to log them.
  • Your conversations with the AI coach, including voice input if you use it.
  • Health data you choose to connect from Apple Health or Health Connect, such as heart rate, sleep, steps and workouts.
  • Problems and ideas you send through Report a Problem, and a phone number there if you add one.

When You Pay

Stripe handles your card. We never see or store your full card number. We keep your plan, price, payment dates and payment status.

Automatically

How you use the site and the app (pages and screens, taps, and recordings of sessions), your device and browser type, and crash reports. The section on analytics below says more.

When You Contact Us

The emails you send us and our replies.

How We Use It

  • To run the beta and your account, and to give you your free beta access.
  • To build your training and food plan and adjust it as you go, through the AI coach.
  • To match your application to your TorQ account by your email address, so your free beta access and your answers reach your account.
  • To email you about the beta and your account: your install links, your price to stay and account notices.
  • To reach you the way you chose on your application, and to text you only if you ticked the box.
  • To find and fix problems, and to improve TorQ and its coaching.
  • To bill you, refund you under our guarantee, and meet our legal and tax duties.
  • To measure whether our ads work (see Analytics and Advertising).

We do not sell your personal data.

How the AI Coach Uses Your Data

Your setup answers, training data, check-ins and chats are sent to AI providers through encrypted connections to write your plan and the coach's replies. These providers include Google, OpenAI and Anthropic, and may change as we improve TorQ. If you use voice input, OpenAI transcribes your audio. Under our agreements with these providers, data sent through their APIs is not used to train their models.

Some messages in the app are checked by Typesafe's Jev model, with OpenRouter as a second route to the same model.

We do not use your personal training data to train broader AI models without your explicit consent.

Who Processes Your Data for Us

We share data only with the providers we need to run TorQ, for that purpose:

  • Our technology provider: builds and runs the TorQ app and servers for us (see above).
  • Supabase: our database and sign-in.
  • Render and Vercel: hosting for our servers and for this website and the web app.
  • Google (Gemini) and OpenAI: the AI coach, and voice transcription.
  • Typesafe and OpenRouter: the Jev message check.
  • Stripe: web payments.
  • RevenueCat: App Store and Google Play purchases, when TorQ is sold there.
  • Resend: the emails we send you.
  • Google Workspace: our team inbox, where your emails to us arrive.
  • PostHog: product analytics, including session recordings.
  • Sentry: error and crash reports.
  • Meta: measuring our ads (see Analytics and Advertising).
  • FatSecret: food database lookups for the foods you log.
  • Google (Firebase Cloud Messaging): push notifications on Android.
  • Twilio: text messages, if you use text-message coaching.
  • Discord: our team's internal chat, where alerts and the daily list of reported problems reach us. An item can name the member who reported it.
  • Apple and Google: TestFlight, Sign in with Apple and Sign in with Google, and Apple Health or Health Connect if you connect them.

Eric Janicki co-owns TorQ. He and his team may see member information when it helps them run and improve TorQ, such as feedback you send us or details you choose to share for a call or a testimonial. They use it only for that and are bound by this policy.

Analytics and Advertising

We keep you signed in with standard sign-in cookies and your device's local storage.

We use PostHog to understand how the site and the app are used, through a pseudonymous device ID stored on your device. This includes recordings of sessions, which show how you moved through pages and screens, so we can see what is confusing or broken.

This website, gettorqapp.com, does not load Meta's ad pixel. In the web app, the pages outside your training dashboard, such as sign-up, sign-in and setup, do load it, to measure our ads. Meta is not told which dashboard pages you view, and the iPhone and Android apps never load the pixel. When you make your first payment on the web, we send Meta a record of the purchase with a scrambled (hashed) copy of your email, so Meta can tell us which ads led to it.

Where the law requires it, we ask for your consent before using analytics that are not essential.

Health Data

If you connect Apple Health or Health Connect, we read only the data types you allow, and use them only to personalize your training, readiness and recovery inside TorQ. We never use health data for advertising or marketing, never share it with anyone for their own purposes, and never sell it. You can turn off access at any time in your device's Health settings.

How Long We Keep It

We keep your account data while your account is open.

When you delete your account, we permanently remove your personal data, including your name, email, profile photo, chats, training programs and goals, usually within a minute and at most within 30 days.

We keep training and nutrition records (workouts and foods logged, meal plans, body-metric trends) under a random identifier that cannot be tied back to you, to study how TorQ is used and improve it. Billing records are kept as long as the law requires (in the US, 7 years for tax). Backup copies cycle out within 90 days.

We keep application records, support emails and analytics data for as long as we need them to run and improve TorQ, or as the law requires. When you delete your account, we delete or de-identify your personal information within a reasonable time, except what we must keep by law. If you applied but never made an account, email team@gettorqapp.com and we will delete your application.

Your Choices and Rights

You can ask to see the data we hold about you, correct it, export it or delete it. You can withdraw a consent at any time, for example to texts or to connected health data. You can delete your account in the app; the Support page shows how, and how to do it by email if you no longer have the app.

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we process your data to provide TorQ under our agreement with you, with your consent (for example health data you connect), and for our legitimate interest in improving TorQ. You may also object to or restrict processing, and complain to your local data protection authority.

If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use it, to ask us to delete or correct it, and not to be treated differently for using these rights. We do not sell your personal information. The Meta ad measurement described above may count as “sharing” under California law; to opt out of it, email team@gettorqapp.com.

To use any of these rights, email team@gettorqapp.com. We reply within 30 days.

How We Protect Your Data

Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Access to production data is limited to the people who need it to run and support TorQ, and is protected by multi-factor authentication. Each member can reach only their own records. No system is completely secure, but we work to protect your data and will tell you and the authorities about a breach as the law requires.

Children

TorQ is not for children. You must be at least 13 years old (16 in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom) to use it, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone younger. If you believe a child has given us personal data, email us and we will delete it.

Where Your Data Is Processed

We are based in the United States, and your data is processed and stored in the United States.

Changes to This Policy

When we change this policy, we change the date at the top. For a material change, we tell you by email or in the app before it takes effect.
